Nutritional Support
Most bedsores are caused by inadequate nutritional support.
AMUN Plastic Surgery carefully considers protein, calories, hydration, and vitamins to design meals, enteral feeding, and injections.

Nutritional Support

Protein
For pressure ulcer treatment, a daily intake of 90g of protein is recommended for a body weight of 60kg. This equates to an incredible amount, such as 15 eggs or 15 glasses of milk per day.
For severe pressure ulcers, such as Stage 3 or 4, even 120g of protein is recommended for the same body weight. This would require consuming 20 eggs or 20 glasses of milk daily, making it difficult to meet the required amount through food alone.
At AMUN Plastic Surgery, we consider the patient’s ability to consume meals and provide a variety of protein options, including protein drinks and injections.
Calories (Energy)
Wound healing requires adequate energy.
If calorie intake is insufficient, the body uses protein to produce energy, which can be detrimental to the recovery of pressure ulcers.
At AMUN Plastic Surgery, we ensure sufficient calorie intake by providing meals, drinks, and injections tailored to the patient's needs.

Hydration
Adequate hydration is essential for the treatment of pressure ulcers.
Proper fluid intake helps maintain optimal skin pressure and delivers oxygen and nutrients to wound tissues.
The recommended daily fluid intake is 1800ml for a 60kg individual.
At AMUN Plastic Surgery, we closely monitor patients' hydration levels, considering factors such as high-protein intake, fluid loss from wounds, elevated temperatures, sweating, vomiting, and diarrhea, which can increase fluid requirements.
Vitamins
Vitamin C is essential for collagen formation, blood vessel formation, and fibroblast development.
Vitamin A stimulates the inflammatory phase of wound healing, maintains the integrity of mucous membranes and epithelial surfaces, increases collagen formation, and suppresses the harmful effects of glucocorticoid therapy, diabetes, radiation, and chemotherapy.
At AMUN Plastic Surgery, we provide regular supplementation of Vitamin C and A to support the healing process.

Albumin Injection
Albumin helps in the mobilization of unsaturated fatty acids from the liver and other tissues, enhancing the formation of cell-protective bioactive lipids (lipoxin, resolvin, and protectin), which aids in wound healing.
At AMUN Plastic Surgery, we actively perform albumin level tests and administer injections as part of the treatment plan.
